Job Description

The objective of this role is to support import/export compliance management, including qualification of chemical and equipment under various Free Trade Agreements, classification, auditing, database management, process development / maintenance, training, reporting and metrics. This objective is aligned with Ecolab's Global Regulatory Affairs mission of supporting business growth and reducing risk of compliance gaps.

The Free Trade Program Manager supporting the Global Trade Compliance team will work on the following items:

  • Preferential Qualification of chemical and equipment related to Free Trade Agreements and providing suggestions for cost savings opportunities, including but not limited to: USMCA, AUFTA, KORUS, Chile FTA, Colombia FTA, Peru FTA, CAFTA-DR (Dominican Republic- Central American FTA), etc.
  • Non-Preferential Qualification of US chemical and equipment parts
  • Oversight over solicitation of vendors to obtain declarations
  • Supervise professional employees for qualification of Global Free Trade Agreements such as Mercosur FTAs, ASEAN FTA, etc as well as global certificates of origin
  • Classify chemical and equipment products according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
  • Write and maintain procedures and system controls to comply with import and export regulations
  • Run compliance reports from ERP system; update ERP systems to ensure master data is current
  • Provide KPI's, monthly metrics on Global Free Trade savings, number of requests and turnaround time
  • Prepare and manage global import/export value metrics by region
  • Participate in other savings initiatives such as duty drawback and CBP refund requests
  • Benchmarks with other corporations in order to obtain "best in class" compliance strategies
  • Work in tandem with government relations individuals and/or in collaboration with different government agencies and advocate on behalf of company to influence relevant legislation

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years of previous experience within Global Trade and/or Regulatory Affairs field
  • No Immigration Sponsorship available for this opportunity

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with excel, VBA code, Power BI, SAP/Global Trade Services (GTS)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
