Overview

Atrium Health Navicent Medical Group is searching for a Medical Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join our medical group.

Job Summary: Functions independently, including coordination and facilitation of administrative and clinical activities in collaboration with a supervising physician to provide the following essential functions listed below.

Essential Functions:

  • Abides by AHN Mission and Culture Commitments.
  • Provides high quality patient care, including but not limited to:
    • Collects appropriate medical history, performs physical examinations, formulates a comprehensive assessment, and develops a treatment plan.
    • Performs medical and/or surgical procedures as qualified to perform, approved by the AHN Medical Staff Office and in accordance with medical staff bylaws.
    • Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests.
    • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications.
    • Displays knowledge of the principles of growth and development while demonstrating the skills and competencies appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.
    • Completes all medical record documentation in a timely and complete manner.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in documentation and billing processes. Understands and complies with federal and state coding policies.
  • Ensures patient safety. Acts as a patient advocate.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality. Will limit access to protected health information (PHI) to the information reasonably necessary to do the job. Will share information only on a need-to-know basis for work purposes.
  • Actively participates in AHNMG/Service Line/Department/Practice activities and meetings as requested.
  • Meet both AHNMG and division-specific Minimum Work Standards, including Access, Citizenship, Production and Quality.
  • Actively participates in AHN performance improvement processes and actively engages in successful performance improvement gap closure by striving to meet operational and quality metrics.
  • Actively participates in marketing and business development of AHNMG and practice.
  • Pursues personal and professional development. Is a life-long learner.
  • Takes initiative, is flexible to change, follows through on commitments, takes personal responsibility and assumes ownership for successfully completing job responsibilities.

Education, Licensure and Certifications:

Eligible for prescriptive authority through the Georgia Board of Nursing and/or Georgia Composite Medical Board. If applicable in setting, must have or be eligible to obtain a DEA license.

Nurse Practitioner - Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. Georgia license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Registered Nurse through the Georgia Board of Nursing required. Certification in the area of practice and appropriate for the population served from a nationally recognized certifying body required.

Experience in oncology a plus but not required
