Geosyntec is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our team in Warner Robins, Georgia. The role is ideal for motivated, detail-oriented individuals with mechanical aptitude who are interested in working with engineers, geologists, and scientists to build a career in the environmental consulting field. The successful candidate will coordinate and implement site-specific project tasks, plan and conduct field work including surface water, groundwater, soil, sediment, soil gas, and air sampling, oversee remedial system construction activities, conduct remedial system operation and maintenance, and provide office support. The ability and willingness to multi-task, maintain flexibility, work outdoors, perform fieldwork as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision and periodic travel is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Plan and perform field work, including surface water, wastewater, groundwater, soil, sediment, soil vapor, and air sampling;
  • Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects;
  • Conduct operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems;
  • Assist clients in maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations;
  • Prepare daily and weekly field reports and progress reports;
  • Prepare project documentation that is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communication and participation in work progress meetings;
  • Assist in the preparation of the final reports, work plans, health and safety documents, and the assembly of report appendices; and
  • Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company's Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional and technical development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our staff to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 90%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 50%
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least two (2) years of experience with mechanical equipment and hands-on trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills or Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college and the ability to monitor several different types of construction and environmental activities simultaneously.   • Technical experience in construction services, geotechnical, environmental, or related engineering disciplines. (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, including survey and topographical drawings. (required)
  • Ability to be trained on the operation of industry typical monitoring and data collection equipment, including but not limited laptop and handheld computers, water and air quality monitoring meters, Troxler moisture /density gauges, scales, and other equipment. (required)
  • Ability to assure field activities comply with construction plans and specifications for remediation systems and the ability to monitor several different types of activities simultaneously. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word software programs. (required)
  • Strong mathematical background with the ability to perform calculations in basic geometry and use of algebra. (required)
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (required)
  • A Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
